Mensik plays at TE and RT: Oklahoma's Eric Mensik started the game against Texas A&M at tight end, but in the 3rd quarter moved to right tackle in replace of Cory Brandon. "We don't like to (play Eric at both positions), but we're in that situation," said Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.
Jones Career High: Landry Jones' 392 passing yards is a career best and the seventh most in school history. Jones also tossed for 336 vs. Tulsa earlier this season.
Murray reception: DeMarco Murray recorded a career-long 67-yard reception for a touchdown in the third quarter.

Jones named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week: For the second time this season, Oklahoma redshirt freshman quarterback Landry Jones has been honored as the Big 12 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week. He shares the honor with Texas Tech running back Baron Batch. Jones completed 26-of-37 passes for 294 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in Oklahoma's 42-30 win over Kansas State. KSU closed Oklahoma's lead to five points twice in the fourth quarter and both times Jones directed scoring drives on OU's ensuing possession to extend the advantage, completing 14 consecutive passes on those drives (67 and 68 yards). Kansas State entered the contest averaging 1.4 interceptions per game but was unable to pick off Jones. The Artesia, NM, native now leads the nation's freshmen quarterbacks with 17 touchdown passes this season, six more than any other first-year QB. Other Big 12 honors for the week to Nebraska's Jared Crick on defense and Kansas State's Brandon Banks on special teams. (SoonerSports PR) Labels: Landry Jones, Oklahoma Sooners

Stoops: Both Jones and Bradford are comparable: Now that Sam Bradford is out for the year, having opted for shoulder surgery, the comparisons have returned. "He's similiar to Sam in that he's a very humble guy. He has a great passion to play. He has a calm demeanor to him," OU coach Bob Stoops said of Jones on Monday morning's Big 12 teleconference. "Those kinds of guys have a calm presence to them and relaxed look. But they’re really competitive. It just kind of resonates." ( Tulsa World)

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops announced on Thursday afternoon backup quarterback Landry Jones will start against Miami on Saturday night. It ends a week of speculation Sam Bradford, who suffered a sprained AC joint on Sept. 5, might return against Miami.
Bradford, who returned to practice in full pads this week, seeked the opinion last weekend of sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews. Stoops said Tuesday evening on his weekly radio program, quarterback Sam Bradford "looked good," although, he wouldn't commit to starting Bradford in Saturday's game. Sooners' QB Landry Jones named Big 12 Offensive Play of the Week: Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones, who set a school record with six touchdown passes in the Sooners' 45-0 win over Tulsa last Saturday, has been named the Big 12 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week. Making just the second start of his career, the redshirt freshman broke the mark previously held by Heisman Trophy winners Sam Bradford and Jason White along with Heisman runner-up Josh Heupel. Jones also tied the NCAA record for the second-most touchdown passes by a freshman. Jones ended the game 25-of-37 for 336 yards with two interceptions. His touchdown throws covered 7, 63, 13, 10, 14 and 35 yards. The league's players of the week are selected by a media panel. Texas LB Roddrick Muckelroy captured the defensive honor, while Nebraska punter Alex Henery was cited for special teams play. (SoonerSports PR) Labels: Big XII, Honors, Landry Jones
