Cameron Kenney to star again at WR: Junior-college transfer Cameron Kenney will make his second consecutive start at wide receiver this weekend against Tulsa, receivers coach Jay Norvell confirmed. Kenney also started last weekend in place of Adron Tennell, and had a 15-yard catch on a slant route. But another reason why Kenney is getting the nod is because of how he blocked in the run game against Idaho State. "I enjoy blocking. It helps out the run and then opens up the pass game," Kenney said. "By the time you're ready to run a route, the defender is concerned with just being blocked. So I think blocking is probably my strongest attribute right now." ( The Oklahoman)
Other WR news; Owens on OU's scout team: Sophomore wideout Jameel Owens in back practicing with the team after being suspended for the Idaho State game for skipping practice and meetings last week. But Owens is no longer working with the regular offense. Instead, he's currently practicing with the scout team.( The Oklahoman)

Owens out: Sophomore receiver Jameel Owens did not dress for the game. Owens had missed practice earlier in the week. Rumors of his transfer leaked earlier in the week, but Owens' family said on Friday he has no plans to do so. Owens was still on the team as of Saturday. ( The Oklahoman)
Sam Bradford talks about injury: Injured Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford gave a live telephone interview to the ESPN pregame show "College Gameday" on Saturday morning. Although the projection for his return is two to four weeks, Bradford reminded viewers that it could be slightly shorter or much longer. "Everyone I talk to, there's really not a certain timeline for as soon as I'll be back," Bradford said. "There's been so many different numbers. I think the main thing is I have to get healthy before I can play again." ( The Oklahoman)

Stoops says WR Jameel Owens needs to make improvements: During his session with the media, Bob Stoops singled out sophomore Jameel Owens as someone who has work to do to make the wide-receiving rotation. Owens is a candidate to fill one of the vacant starting spots at wide receiver, or at least be a significant contributor in a reserve role. But Friday, it didn't sound like Owens was on track for either. "Jameel needs to make a lot of improvement," Stoops said. Stoops, however, wouldn't go into details. "There are just some things right now that he isn't where he needs to be," he said. ( The Oklahoman) Halze now an OU graduate assistant: Joey Halzle, Bradford's backup the previous two years, now is a graduate assistant, working in quality control. He'll break down film, prepare scouting reports, that kind of thing. "I really wanted to get into coaching," Halzle said. "Not a better place to start than getting your foot in the door at OU. "I always said, I didn't think I could have a regular job. I wanted to be involved in football. It's a passion of mine." Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and NotesFind University of Oklahoma Pro Day results here. Manny Johnson held out of Pro Day: Wide receiver Manny Johnson did not participate at Pro Day after recently re-injuring his hamstring. Johnson also injured the hamstring at the Combine during receiving drills, which prevented him from testing there, either. Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and NotesTrue freshmen Owens and Miller expected to play: Sooner coach Bob Stoops said today that Jameel Owens and Dejuan Miller will likely play in 2008, a rather strong indicator of the duo's progress given that Ryan Broyles, Corey Wilson and Tyler Stradford, OU’s true freshman wideouts a year ago, all redshirted. Stoops said other true freshmen he expects to play this season include safety Joseph Ibiloye and offensive linemen Stephen Good and Ben Habern. Defensive ends coach Chris Wilson said he hasn't determined whether R.J. Washington, the nation's No. 1 high school D-end last year according to ESPN and Rivals.com, or fellow freshman David King will see action this year.
