The Boz Amazed About OU's Facilities

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

The Boz impressed with OU facility upgrades: Brian Bosworth is blown away OU's facilities upgrade since his era. "It's amazing," he said. "It would be an honor to come back and play when you have facilities like this. The kids that come into the program now need to take it for what it's worth. You've got a first-class organization, you've got a first-class coach, you've got fans that absolutely adore them. So they should come out here and work harder than they've ever worked, reach down and dig deeper than they ever thought they could. "They've got something really special here, and they've just gotta keep working on it, create that chemistry that's going to get them that last game, put that last game to bed." (Tulsa World)

Loadholt to visit Raiders: ProFootballTalk.com is reporting University of Oklahoma offensive tackle Phil Loadholt has an official visit today with the Oakland Raiders, according to a league source. The All-Big 12 lineman is one of the biggest linemen in the draft at 6'8," 332 pounds. A projected second-round draft pick, Loadholt has 5.34 speed in the 40-yard dash. (ProFootballTalk.com)

Bosworth on College Football Hall of Fame Ballot

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Brian Bosworth among 76 players and six coaches on HoF ballot: Oklahoma linebacker Brian Bosworth and Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard of Michigan are among 13 players eligible for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame for the first time. The National Football Foundation announced Tuesday the 76 players and six coaches on this year's ballot, which will be mailed out this week to 12,000 NFF members and current Hall of Famers. After votes are tabulated, they are submitted to the NFF's Honors Court, which will select the major college football Hall of Fame class. (Tulsa World) Note: Bosworth is a first-time nominee on the ballot.

Change in venue: Because of construction in the Switzer Center, coaches offices have been moved to the east side of Memorial Stadium, players are dressing in the visitors' locker room on the west side, and practices are being held at the OU rugby fields west of Lloyd Noble Center. (Tulsa World)

Brody Eldridge near 100 percent

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Eldridge near 100 percent: After battling an ankle injury the last month, tight end Brody Eldridge is finally close to 100 percent, thanks to a week of rest during OU's bye week. Said Stoops, "That's a positive." (The Oklahoman)

Norman gets respect: When Bob Stoops asked fans to be louder, he wasn't admonishing Sooner Nation. He just wants to have every possible advantage. But Tech defensive end Jake Ratliff, for one, thinks OU fans won't have a problem getting loud. "Norman's a tough place to play," Ratliff said. "I mean, there's 90,000 fans screaming at you. It's a fun place to go. Don't get me wrong. It's a fun place to go and I like playing up there. But it's definitely a tough place to play, especially after playing (at home) the last two weeks." (Tulsa World)

Lots of press: If the magnitude of a game is reflected in the media coverage, Saturday's game is big. Oklahoma officials anticipate issuing about 340 media credentials, up from about 230 for most games. (Dallas Morning News)

Meet the Boz: Former OU linebacker Brian Bosworth is scheduled to attend a pregame tailgate party at Sooner Legends Inn and Suites in Norman on Friday from 7-9:30. The event is limited to 150 registered guests and can be reserved by calling 405-701-8100. (Tulsa World)

(1/15) Sooners May Lose Both Coordinators and Adrian Peterson Columns

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Sooners may lose both coordinators: Bob Stoops' recruiting efforts could soon extend beyond player prospects to include new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Oklahoma assistants Brent Venables and Kevin Sumlin are involved in coaching searches at separate schools. And according to reports, each is on a short list -- Venables for the head coaching position at Minnesota, Sumlin as offensive coordinator at Miami. Venables has been OU's co-defensive coordinator the past eight seasons. Sumlin just finished his first season as co-offensive coordinator. (NewsOK.com)

Gaylord - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium improvements:
The latest set of improvements to Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium will greet fans when they return in September for the 2007 season. Work began this week on upgrades to the restrooms and concessions on the north and west sides of the facility. Fencing went up along the interior walkways on Monday. Workers then began removing wooden concession stands under the stadium that had served fans for the past 50 years. Once this renovation is completed, all fan areas of Memorial Stadium will have undergone major improvements over the last five years. This $12 million project also includes updates of the football offices in the Barry Switzer Center and SoonerVision production facilities. The brick and iron gating surrounding the stadium will be extended to enclose the football practice fields on the south side of the facility. (
