Stoops is Hopeful Caleb, Reynolds, Williams Will Play in Bowl

Stoops is hopeful to get injured trio back for Sun Bowl: Coach Bob Stoops is hopeful that left tackle Trent Williams (concussion), middle linebacker Ryan Reynolds (hamstring) and wide receiver Brandon Caleb (knee) will all be able to return for OU's bowl game. Williams and Reynolds both missed the Sooners' 27-0 win against Oklahoma State, while Caleb suffered a hyperextended knee just before halftime. Caleb had also been dealing with a sprained ankle. Caleb Questionable Against Nebraska

Sooner WR Brandon Caleb questionable: Outside of the ankle injury to Brandon Caleb, Oklahoma emerged from the Kansas State game in pretty good health. Sooner coach Bob Stoops wasn't ready to give an announcement of Caleb's status for this week's game at Nebraska Monday night. "He's a little bit sore, but we'll see how he goes throughout the week," Stoops said. (Norman Transcript)

Alexander still recovering

Oklahoma Football Articles and Notes

Frank Alexander still recovering after stabbing: Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops still doesn't have a timetable for freshman defensive end Frank Alexander to return to the field. Alexander was stabbed in during an incident at a Norman night club Aug. 31. His right arm was injured and he's been wearing a medical brace since. "He's improving, but we still have to wait week to week to see how far along his muscle is," Stoops said. Stoops said it's very doubtful Alexander will be back for this week's game at Washington. (Norman Transcript)

Sam Bradford nominated for AT&Ts All-American player of the Week: Quarterback Sam Bradford is one of four nominees for the AT&T All-America Player of the Week award. The other nominees are Oklahoma State's Dez Bryant, East Carolina quarterback Patrick Pinkney and Michigan State running back Javon Ringer. Fans can text message VOTE to 51234 on their wireless phones for the winner. Fans have until 10:59 p.m. Wednesday to submit votes. The winner will be announced during Thursday's ESPN College Football Primetime Presentation. (ESPNAllAmerican.com)

Caleb close to returning? [Bob] Stoops said wideout Brandon Caleb, wearing a protective boot during the Cincinnati game, is "closer. He had an ankle sprain last week during practice. It's mild. It's not a high way. So we're hoping he's back this week." (Tulsa World)

Sooner Granted Hardship Waiver

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

Brandon Caleb granted medical hardship: Oklahoma receiver Brandon Caleb had received a hardship waiver and has had his sophomore season restored. He will be a soph for the 2008 season. The Atlanta, Ga., native played in the 2007 opener against North Texas and logged one tackle while playing on special teams. He played in 10 games as a freshman in 2006 and most of that action also was on special teams. Caleb incurred the injury on his right knee, but has full clearance to participate in spring drills. The hardship waiver was handed down by the Big 12 Conference. (SoonerSports PR)
