Kenney to See Playing Time
JUCO star Cameron Kenney to play: Once the rage of preseason camp, Oklahoma's Cameron Kenney didn't get a look at wide receiver in last week's loss to BYU. "It's hard to play in a no-huddle offense and play at a high tempo if you've never been on the field in a game," position coach Jay Norvell said, noting Kenney is a junior college transfer adjusting to OU's offense. "We wanted to give him an extra week of practice. But he's been doing really well and working hard." After watching his receivers struggle to catch, compete, route-run and block against BYU, Norvell is ready to give Kenney a shot Saturday against Idaho State. "Cameron Kenney will definitely play," he said, "and play a lot." (Tulsa World)
Norvell: Oklahoma WRs played 'average': Junior Brandon Caleb led Oklahoma in receiving against BYU, despite having only 57 yards on four catches, both career highs. His output was lower than any leading receiver in the entire 2008 season. "I thought it was pretty average effort by our guys," said receivers coach Jay Norvell, who was complimentary of Caleb.
