McCoy a Wooden finalist
Gerald McCoy named a semifinalist for the Wooden Cup: Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the 2009 Wooden Cup. He is the fourth OU student-athlete to be considered for the award over the last four years. Sooner track and field and cross country runner Jackie Dubois won the Wooden Cup in 2005, the same year that OU football running back Jacob Gutierrez was a finalist. Then, football defensive end Carl Pendleton was a finalist in 2006. The announcement on the finalists was made by Fred Northup, President, Athletes for a Better World. The Wooden Cup is given to a collegiate and a professional athlete who have made the greatest positive influence in the lives of others. The award recipients will be announced at a ceremony held at Atlanta's East Lake Golf Club on Wednesday, January 14. (SoonerSports PR)
