Know the Bearcats
Last week: Cincinnati Bearcats defeated Eastern Kentucky 40-7. UC held Eastern Kentucky scoreless in the first half.
Returning starters: Cincinnati returns 16 starters, including all-Americans Mike Mickens, Terrill Byrd, and Kevin Huber.
Interesting tidbit: Cincinnati has never defeated a team in the top 5.
Team connections: There are no Oklahomans on the Cincinnati roster. The lone Ohioan on the OU roster is Branndon Braxton, an offensive tackle from Youngstown (Ursuline HS). Though, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops is from Youngstown, Ohio, and offensive line coach James Patton is from Lafayette.
Bearcats Head Coach Kelly says CU needs at least 3 TDs: "I don't think this is a 7-3 game," Kelly said. "We've got to be in the 20s. We’ve got to have at least three scores on the board to give ourselves a fighting chance. "I don't expect them to play their worst game of the year and turn the ball over. We’re assuming that they're going to play well and that we're going to play well. If that's the case and it’s two football teams that are playing well, it's going to get into that range where you’re going to need three scores." (Cincinnati Enquirer)
Next meeting: In home-and-home series, Oklahoma will visit Cincinnati Sept. 25, 2010.
