UPDATED: Josh Jarboe dismissed at OU
Josh Jarboe dismissed from Oklahoma football team: Josh Jarboe has been dismissed from the OU football team. Statement from Bob Stoop on the Jarboe matter.
"We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program" Stoops said. "We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."UPDATED: DeKalb County Athletic Director Ron Sebree reacted to Jarboe's dismissal.
"I'm heartbroken for the young man," said Sebree. "It shows that he [Josh Jaboe] needs some kind of assistance that he obviously can't get from DeKalb County and can't get from Oklahoma. He had a large opportunity to do something great with his life."UPDATE 3: According to word, Josh Jarboe had a previous transgression earlier this summer. Jarboe was in the car with Oklahoma lineman Phil Loadaholt when he was arrested on a DUI.

While i'm not a fan of OU, I applaud Coach Stoops for the decision.

This young cat will fit right in at Penn St., Florida St. or Ohio St.
What a waste of talent.

Norman is safe again! Looks like he can now focus on his rap career.

Clearly the glorification of a gangster lifestyle is near and dear to Jarboe's heart (and many, many other young African-Americans). I'm sure he dreams this way too. It is who he is. Too bad for us all that this coarseness pervades society. (His future friends are going to be gangsters too -- not civic leaders.)

As a Longhorn fan, I just wanted to say that Coach Stoops did the right thing in getting rid of this guy. My understanding is that his behavioral parameters were well defined BEFORE he arrived in Norman. He broke them ... he's gone! I hope Coach Mack will do the same when faced with the same situation.
