The controversial 2008 Oklahoma recruit, Josh Jarboe is back at it again after being arrested on gun charges in March. This time freestyling about everything from Atlanta, dreads, and AKS!! It's nothing poetic, nor idea for someone to freestyle about guns [then upload it to YouTube] after their recent past. Luckily for Jarboe in this red-state of Oklahoma, we like our guns, too!

While I agree its stupid to rap in front of camera, its amazing that Sooner fans kept this video alive. It was pulled from youtube less than hour after the link was placed on a popular Sooner board (by another Sooner fan). Before it gets pulled , a Sooner blog copies the vid on their server. Now its linked on the New York Times blog tonight by ...you guessed it, a former writer for a Sooner website. I guess it will fade away eventually but I have to wonder why those individuals (and you) were compelled to share this video with the world.

I am an OSU fan and the kid is a kid. He has had a troubled past but if that kid can go to Norman, become disciplined, and maybe learn an occupation then is the world better off or not? Will he make it or not? Who knows but, I'd much rather run into him with a few job skills that he can learn a living with than I had on the street corner some night with no skills.
As for the continual complaint about "going to school at taxpayer's expense" may I remind you that football pays the way for all other sports at almost every university in the country so those of you who use that argument do not realize the facts.

What he said was bad. I think everyone would agree with that. But cut the kid some breaks. Do you even know if he was the one that posted it? NO. Do you know if he is sorry for doing it? NO. Also, if everytime some kid did something wrong and we just kicked them off the team, you would not even have college football, everyone would be kicked off. Nobody is perfect and what he said was wrong, but you can't sit here and bash a kid, and i say again an 18 year old KID, for making a mistake for freestyling infront of a camera.

"Coach Blake" and others like him don't understand anything beyond the safe wonderbread world of suburbia. It's cool to have opinions about music, but please just do a LITTLE bit of research on the subject before you go spouting off irrational statements about it. Freestyles and battle rhymes were, and still are used to express anger and frustration. It's so easy to judge a kid who you just don't understand. Honestly, he can't rhyme and it was a poor choice to post it on the internet. However, you need to ask yourself, if this was a white kid performing a heavy metal song about his anger, would he be persecuted like this? I seriously doubt it. I am an OU alumni and I think that kicking him off the team was harsh and unfair.

He is a thug from Atlanta who was given a break as a first offender. Not too bright when you carry a loaded weapon on school grounds, then cry when you get caught, right after you get a free ride at OU.
then to go to school and rub the noses in the crap that you got away with in the first place.
Carrying a gun on School grounds is a felony. He NEVER should have been allowed to keep his ride.
To screw up once is bad enough, to then flip the bird to everyone who worked to keep your scholarship, that is beyond stupid.

Another poor choice by a player who seems to have made a string of them. I think the video says alot about the character of this player. When taken by itself I agree it is not enough to get the kid kicked off the team, but when taken with the earlier gun charges I can see the punishment as fair. I'm sure there was more things to consider than these two incidents in this case.

I agree. It is silly to be up in arms about this. I'm sure I could say things that would shock anyone, but I do have many years of public speaking and performing experience.
He is young and with time he will hopefully learn to be more tactiful.

They really kicked him out? Unbelievable! There has to be more to this story. Maybe he was getting into more trouble behind the scenes or lazy or something. If he's kicked out due to the video, then it was strictly due to stereotyping. A young black man says "gun" and white people start running. Let it be a white kid doing Manson or Black Sabath, noone would have even cared. Come on, get serious...This is harming noone! They saw his grill, his dreads, his skin color, and heard his wack rap and ran for the hills. Im disappointed in Coach Bob Stoops. The only thing this young man needed was direction, and he wasnt willing to offer that. None of my children will attend Oklahoma!
