Former Sooner Tom Catlin Passes Away
Sad News.. Former Sooner Tom Catlin dead at 76: Tom Catlin, one of just five two-time All-Americans to play for Bud Wilkinson, died Saturday in the Seattle suburb of Sammamish, Wash. He was 76. Catlin played football at the University of Oklahoma from 1950-52 after earning All-State accolades in 1949 as a senior at Ponca City High School. He was OU's first GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American. Playing center and linebacker, Catlin was named all-conference three times, earned All-American honors in 1951 and 1952 and was co-captain with quarterback Eddie Crowder during his senior year. "Tom Catlin was one of the very special players," Crowder said Monday from his home in Boulder, Colo. (Tulsa World)
