OU Picks Up Second '09 Commitment
Franklin verbally commits to Oklahoma: Mansfield (Texas) defensive end Terry Franklin committed to Oklahoma on Thursday, giving the Sooners their second commitment for the 2009 class. Franklin, who started for Mansfield Summit High School as a sophomore, now attends Mansfield Legacy High School, which opened its doors in the fall. As a new school, Legacy's 2007 football schedule consisted of mostly junior high teams. The school switch kept Franklin off the radar of a lot of schools, but that didn't deter OU defensive ends coach Chris Wilson and the Sooner staff from offering him a scholarship. OU first learned about Franklin from Legacy head football coach Chris Melson, who played quarterback at Ada High School and for the Sooners in the early 1990s. (The Oklahoman)
