Coach Randy Shannon not concerned about OU-Miami past: Coach Randy Shannon is taking a completely different approach. He could care less what the Miami teams he played on did to the Sooners two decades ago. "Those guys I played with, I love them, but I have to let those times go," Shannon said. "This is a new team, a new start, fresh faces. I mean, it ain't Barry Switzer. It ain't Jimmy Johnson. It's Randy Shannon and Bob Stoops. It ain't Troy Aikman and Jamelle Holieway. It ain't Steve Walsh in the game. "I don't mean any disrespect for what's happened in the past, but this is an ABC [TV] game. We should have nationwide coverage, and that's the thing that everyone needs to be talking about. It's an opportunity for everyone in America to see two great teams play on Saturday." OU-Miami schemes similar to each other: OU and Miami run very similar schemes on offense and defense. "It helps because our defense is very much the same way," center Jon Cooper said. "They do a lot of stunts, a lot of twists. They'll max blitz. They'll cover zero and bring seven guys. Our defense has done that also. It's something we see a lot." (Norman Transcript)
