(11/9) Aggies on Peterson, Peterson almost 100%, Quinn to play and more.

Oklahoma Football Notes and Articles

Aggies on Peterson: (Adrian) Peterson, slowed by an injured ankle most of the season, rushed for 146 yards on 24 carries in the Sooners' most recent victory, at Nebraska. Peterson gained 101 hard-fought yards on 29 carries at A&M last season. "I feel sure," defensive coordinator Carl Torbush said, "they'll give him the ball many, many times, and I would, too, if I had a player like that." (Star-Telegram)

Peterson almost 100%: Stoops said starting tailback Adrian Peterson is close to being at peak condition after struggling with a sprained ankle. Peterson rushed for 146 yards to pace the Sooners' victory over Nebraska after missing the previous game and being hobbled for OU's two games before that. (San Antonio Express)

Jones to return punts? If Jejuan Rankins' nagging ankle injury prevents him from playing Saturday, running back Kejuan Jones will probably return punts, coach Bob Stoops said. Jones has not handled one punt this season, but Stoops said the senior has been catching footballs in practice the last two weeks and looked good doing it. (Dallas Morning News)

UPDATE 3: Trouble at linemen again: Oklahoma Sooners continue to have trouble with offensive linemen this season, another incident occurred Wednesday. Red-shirt freshman offensive tackle J. D. Quinn of Garland, TX, was ticketed by Norman police and charged with one count person under 21 operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating beverages. Thursday evening University of Oklahoma Football program had no comment, and said situation will be handled internally. This is the second incident this season, that an University of Oklahoma Football player has been ticketed for under age drinking. (GNEXTINC.com) UPDATE: Oklahoma offensive lineman J.D. Quinn was arrested early Tuesday morning and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence-under age 21. Quinn, 19, was detained by Norman police after a traffic stop just before 1 a.m. According to a police affidavit, Quinn was stopped in the 800 block of Beaumont after he was observed speeding in a 25 mile-per-hour zone, then failing to stop at a stop sign. The officer wrote he detected alcohol on Quinn's breath, and wrote in the affidavit Quinn "admitted to drinking a six pack of beer." The affidavit stated Quinn submitted to a breathalyzer test, which measured his blood alcohol content at .03 and .04. To be charged with DUI-under 21, a person must register .02 or higher. (NewsOK.com) UPDATE 2: No word on Quinn: Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops declined comment Monday on the status of offensive lineman J.D. Quinn, who was arrested last week and charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under the influence-under 21. Stoops said any disciplinary measures would be handled internally. Quinn, 19, a redshirt freshman who has started the last four games at right guard, practiced with the first team Monday and is currently listed as the starter, according to co-offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson. It was Quinn's second alcohol-related arrest in 19 months. (NewsOK.com) Quinn will play against A&M: Coach Bob Stoops said right guard J.D. Quinn, a 19-year-old arrested for driving under the influence early Nov. 1, will play against Texas A&M. Stoops said any punishment will be dealt with internally. "We'll deal with it as we have so many others," Stoops said. (Dallas Morning News)
