Bassey to start: Senior corner back Eric Bassey is set to move into a starting spot when Oklahoma hosts Kansas State on Oct. 1. Bassey, who started at strong safety as a freshman in 2002 and began last season as a starting corner before being replaced, has been backing up starters Chijioke Onyenegecha and D.J. Wolfe. However, Bassey will get the start at the "field side" corner and will be backed up by sophomore Marcus Walker. Wolfe and Onyenegecha, who have been OU's starting corners in every game this season, will compete for the starting spot at the "boundary corner." As of Wednesday, Wolfe was listed as the starter. Wolfe and Onyenegecha struggled in last week's loss to UCLA, opening the door for Bassey. Bassey was sent in against the Bruins, suffered a jammed neck and had to leave the field after just five plays. "It was disappointing to him and me that he had to come out so quick because he played extremely well," said secondary coach Bobby Jack Wright.
