Oklahoma Sooners Football Notes and Articles
Grady to Utah: Tommy Grady's next stop is Salt Lake City. The sophomore quarterback, who announced his intention to transfer from Oklahoma on Thursday, left Saturday evening on a cross-country drive to his new school: Utah. "I think it's perfect for me," Grady said. Grady, who fell out of OU's quarterback competition when he was unable to participate in preseason practices while taking an intersession class, said he considered USC, Ole Miss and UCLA, but chose Utah for several reasons. He will have to sit out this season and be a junior in the 2006 season. Two former high school teammates from Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison play there. More importantly, his older brother, Jeff Grady, played quarterback for Utah offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig at Fresno State. "They've got a real good offense and a lot of good players," Tommy Grady said. "I really like the coaches." (NewsOK.com)
QB Decision soon? At Oklahoma's practice on Saturday, coach Bob Stoops said a decision on a starting quarterback won't come until at least after a scrimmage scheduled for Wednesday. "We're probably going to wait until after we work Wednesday in another shorter scrimmage," said Stoops of evaluating junior Paul Thompson and redshirt freshman Rhett Bomar. "Hopefully we'll know something by the end of the week." (NewsOK.com)
Last practice before classes start: The Oklahoma football team ended preseason training camp on Saturday at the rugby fields with its final practice before school gets underway next week. The Sooners practiced for over two hours on Saturday and endured temperatures close to 100 degrees. OU head coach Bob Stoops was pleased with the team's effort. "It was a normal day and the guys finished well," said Coach Stoops following the early afternoon session. "I am sure the guys are anxious for a day and a half off and to get to school."
