Oklahoma Sooners Football Notes and Articles
Another Sooner to Transfer? Grady may not be the only Sooner departing before classes start. Brett Bowers, a redshirt freshman safety, is considering a transfer. Bowers' destination isn't known. A 5-foot-11, 194-pounder from Jacksonville, Fla., Bowers was stuck behind several players on the depth chart in the secondary. (NewsOK.com)
Dallas Mayor looks to keep the OU-Texas game in Dallas: As far as Dallas Mayor Laura Miller is concerned, the annual Texas-Oklahoma game will stay put in the Cotton Bowl, even as the schools threaten to take their football and go home-and-home. "We can't lose this game, period," Ms. Miller said during a wide-ranging, hourlong address Friday before members of the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce. Residents "shouldn't worry about Texas-OU," she said. "That game will not be lost." The mayor said she would support the idea of presenting Dallas voters next year with a bond proposition to pay for repairs and expansion of the 75-year-old art deco landmark in the middle of Fair Park. Grady Transfer Reaction: OU quarterbacks Paul Thompson and Rhett Bomar said Friday morning they hadn't spoken much with Tommy Grady in the last few weeks. But they didn't sound surprised by the news he is transferring. "I didn't know if he was going to come back out (for OU) or not," Thompson said. "I don't like to listen to what other people are saying, so I didn't pay any attention to the rumors about what he was going to do." Said Bomar: "Everyone knew (a transfer) was a possibility. But I've just been focused on myself playing quarterback." (NewsOK.com)
