(8/16) Grady to complete class, Sooners practice again indoors and more.
Oklahoma Sooner's Notes and Articles
Grady to complete summer classes: Quarterback Tommy Grady, who has missed all of preseason drills due to an intersession course, is scheduled to complete the class Friday. However, it seems doubtful that Grady will get back into the mix at QB with junior Paul Thompson and redshirt freshman Rhett Bomar vying for the starting spot. Speculation is that the sophomore will transfer. "I don't know that," said OU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Chuck Long. "I don't want to say anything about it. I'm sure he'll confer with his family, and they'll make a decision." Long did say that with classes starting Monday, Grady has a choice to make this week. (NEWSOK.com)
Injury updates: Senior running back Kejuan Jones remains on crutches with a sprained left foot. The Jenks product has been out of action for a week after suffering the injury during OU's first scrimmage on Aug. 8. Jones' foot is in a protective boot. Freshmen receiver Fred Strong (thigh muscle) is still recuperating. Sophomore linebacker Demarrio Pleasant, who suffered a broken finger on his left hand Thursday, was limited to conditioning drills. He is expected back in the next few days. Freshman defensive tackle Cordero Moore is sidelined with a bruised sternum suffered in Saturday's scrimmage. Moore spent the evening practice on a treadmill, alongside sophomore defensive tackle Steven Coleman, who was on an elliptical (conditioning) machine. (NEWSOK.com)
Sooner's practice again indoors: Mother Nature couldn't stop Oklahoma from continuing its preseason preparations Monday evening. The Sooner football team returned to the Everest Indoor Training Center east of Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for the second practice of the day. Although rain had stopped in the Norman area, the OU coaching staff opted to practice indoors to avoid further wet weather and soggy field conditions. OU head coach Bob Stoops turned the evening workout a "normal practice." "It was good," he said. "We continue to make good progress. (SoonerSports.com)
