Stoops comment on Q.B. race: "I thought they both (Paul Thompson and Rhett Bomar) did a pretty good job today." Stoops said. "Both threw the deep ball well. I think, in the end, that's going to be a strong position for us. "If you look back two years ago nobody knew who Jason White was but two rebuilt knees. Guys were wondering if he could stay on the field for more than two games. I don't think anybody had him on any All-Big 12 teams in the preseason. Hopefully, these guys can come on and have that type of career." (SoonerSports.com)
Stoops not happy with Friday's practice: It took 11 practices, but OU coach Bob Stoops was displeased with his team's performance Friday. After the morning workout, the Sooners went through a long set of conditioning sprints, including a few extra because of discipline for a few players. Stoops spent several minutes longer than usual in the team huddle. "It was pretty sloppy," he said. "Guys feeling sorry for themselves, the usual stuff after about a week. .... Didn't do real well today." Stoops elaborated, defining sloppiness. "Just the way they approached the line of scrimmage, their alignments, laziness in their assignments," he said. "We see it maybe more than everyone else sees it. They're not as sharp and pushing themselves as much as they should. Coaches having to say too much to them, rather than just competing like they usually do.” (NewsOK.com)
