Sooners - Flying in under the radar
come the Oklahoma Sooners. After an
uncharacteristically sub-par season, it’s out of
sight, out of mind — but not for long. Due in
large part to a ruinous rash of injuries in 2005,
there are 22 players back who drew at least one
starting assignment last fall, compared to only 17
with starting experience going into last season.
OU won six of its last seven games, including a
17–14 victory over sixth-ranked Oregon in the
Holiday Bowl

Sooners - You've got to be pretty good
to go 8-4 while rebuilding. Quarterback Rhett
Bomar comes into his own as a sophomore, and
junior tailback Adrian Peterson is healthy.

Sooners - The common perception is that
the 2005 Sooners were a major disappointment after
playing in the previous two national championship
games, but it was a solid season with the four
losses coming to TCU, UCLA, Texas and Texas Tech,
who combined to lose a total of six games. It was
one of the toughest schedules ever played, yet OU
still finished impressively with a Holiday Bowl
win over Oregon.

Sooners - Rhett Bomar has a much-needed
year of experience. The key for the Sooners will
be a healthy-from-start-to-finish Adrian Peterson.
Anytime he's 100 percent OU is a threat to win.
