Missouri's Jeremy Payne wins $10,000 Enid Feature: Jeremy Payne of Springfield, Mo., found the long haul to Enid profitable as he led all 50-laps of the main event to win the $10,000 Thunder in the Park at Enid Speedway Park Sunday. Randy Timms and Paul White, who finished second and fifth in the race, were disqualified for failing to make weight. That allowed Eddie Martin and Chad Wheeler to finish in the top five. Also, Persistence paid off for Paul White of Temple, Texas, as he picked up the victory in the caution-riddled limited modified feature.. And Hennessey’s James Lott picked up the crown and a $1,000 payday in street stocks with aboard his Dunsworth Machine-powered Jackson car. (The Enid News and Eagle)

Guinn suffers second-degree burns after accident: Eddie Guinn started the 2008 season on fire. Literally. On turn two of the fifth lap of a super sprint heat race, Guinn's car flipped and caught fire. Guinn scrambled out of the car and rolled across the track to try to put out flames on one of his legs. Paramedics extinguished the fire — on Guinn's leg and his car — before Guinn's father, Ron, took him to the emergency room. Paramedics said Guinn suffered second-degree burns on his right ankle and lower leg. Drivers at the Oklahoma City track are required to wear firesuits. (The Oklahoman)

ASCS Oklahoma Notebook:
---Fifty-two cars filled State Fair Speedway's pit area on Friday night, with 48 on hand for Saturday's ASCoT action. Through the opening seven nights of the season, the O'Reilly ASCoT National series has averaged 51.4 cars per night.
---Moore, Oklahoma's Chris Lloyd made his O'Reilly ASCoT debut at Oklahoma City and made the feature his first night out after surviving a perilous game of chicken with the turn three infield tire. Contact on the white flag lap sent the tire skittering into the middle of the track, precipitating a caution. Lloyd surrendered second to Danny Jennings on the restart but still made the feature cut. Jennings ranked as Friday's top earner in passing points and promptly drew the eight pill in the redraw.
---Robert Sellers, a fourth-place finisher in 2001 ASCS National points, was at the wheel of Ronnie Davis' No. 25 at Oklahoma City's State Fair Speedway. Sellers is slated to drive the No. 25 during selected ASCS events at Oklahoma City and Lawton, with Lawton two-barrel grad T.J. Harrell taking in the rest of the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region slate. The No. 25 entry has ranked among the top ten in ASCS Sooner Region point over each of the past three years with Derek Cottrell in the seat. (ASCS)

Wright dismisses rumors of retirement: Gary Wright never considered retiring after his 13-win American Sprint Car Series national championship season in 2007. Wright, who is the four-time defending ASCS champion, has spent the last few months combating suggestions that he was calling it a career after he sold some equipment in a January auction in Tulsa. "I just sold part of my stuff,” Wright said. "I down-sized my operation, but I never said I was retiring. I just couldn't find a sponsor.” Last May, Wright told The Oklahoman that he wanted to concentrate on his motocross track and "my race team has been for sale since last winter. If someone were to walk up to me at the races this weekend and offer to buy my trailer and three sprint cars, I would be done for good.” (The Oklahoman)

Trey Robb not competing at State Fair Speedway: In parts.. Trey Robb is (he's) not racing tonight and Saturday at the American Sprint Car Series National Tour races at State Fair Speedway. Oh, Robb will be at the race track, but only as a spectator, likely surrounded by autograph seekers. "We were looking forward to it, but I guess we'll be watching from the stands,” said Perry Robb Jr., Trey's father. Robb raced in the ASCS National Tour races last weekend at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. He finished 11th in the A feature on March 14, then 22nd on Saturday. The latter finish was the result of a blown out engine in a race Robb led for three laps. Perry Robb Jr. said repairs to the car, owned by Joe Swofford of Mansfield, Texas, can't be made in time for this weekend's Oklahoma City races. "It's just unfortunate,” Robb Jr. said. Oklahoman's love their NASCAR racing: "The Oklahoma City area is unbelievably strong for us,” speedway president Eddie Gossage said Thursday during the track's annual media day. "I really think demographically we fit in so perfectly with sports fans in Oklahoma, and I'm gonna tell you, it's a big part of our success.” "More Oklahoma fans come to Texas Motor Speedway than come down for the Texas-OU game,” Gossage said, "and that's something we're real proud of.” More fans from our state go to the races than to the Red River Shootout? Even though it sounds crazy, consider that the speedway says 20 percent of its fans come from Oklahoma. If you only count the two NASCAR races at the speedway, which has a capacity of more than 200,000 per race, that would account for about 80,000 Oklahomans. The Cotton Bowl only holds about 40,000 Sooner fans. Even if you add all the folks who make the trek simply to tailgate or drink or stroll with midway, the number probably falls short of the number of race fans who head south to the races. That makes Oklahoma City-Tulsa one of the best for Texas Motor Speedway. "It's a strong third,” said Kenton Nelson, the speedway's assistant general manager. "Obviously, you've got the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Then, you've got Houston and that area. And then Oklahoma City and Tulsa ... makes up a strong third.” (More at The Oklahoman)

The NASCAR pair will also have an autograph session prior to the races as well as their souvenir trailers. (OMS PR)
