Goodman Outduels Passmore for Outlaw Motor Speedway Victory

OKTAHA, Okla. -- Mike Goodman survived an torrid early race duel with Jamie Passmore to win his second straight and third OCRS sprint main event of the season Friday night at Outlaw Motor Speedway.

Passmore, who won the last OCRS event at Outlaw just last month, settled for second but only lost three points to Goodman who moved into second displacing Matt Sherrell who fell to third.

When the green flag dropped on the 25-lapper Goodman and Passmore had the fans on the edge of their seats as they diced for the lead in the first four laps. Passmore led into turn one of the first lap only giveway to Goodman in turn two but returned the favor taking the lead back at the start-finish line to end lap one. The two swapped the lead twice a lap for the next three laps with diving passes on each other in the corners before Goodman finally edged ahead on lap five.

A yellow flag slowed the action after nine laps when Burt Davis stalled and restarted in turn one. Goodman retained his lead on the start until lap 13 when the yellow waved again after Jamie McDonald and Travis Jenkins got together in turn one. On the restart Passmore dived in front of Goodman shot back in front and never looked back over the remaining laps.

A lap 23 yellow gave Passmore one more chance but Goodman's car was working better and Passmore remained in second. Danny Smith finished in third but had to battle with Sherrell in the closing laps for the spot. Johnny Kent finished behind Sherrell in fifth.

Kenneth Walker, who won at Outlaw back on April 18, was running in fourth when his engine blew with five laps remaining. Jackie York heavily damaged his sprint car when he took hard ride down the backstretch after striking the wall during the first heat. York was not hurt but he was unable to start the main event.
