Outlaw Motor Speedway rained out: The third week of the Danny Womack era will have to wait one more week to happen as tonight's races have been cancelled due to rain and cold weather. Over eight inches of rain fell at the 3/8th mile oval this week, including three inches in the last 48 hours, forcing the cancellation. A near record of 20 inches has fallen at Outlaw Motor Speedway over the last 18 days. "With all the rain we have received since last Friday night we have been unable to get on the race track to work it, then with the rain last night and cold weather it just isn't feasible to get the track and pits ready to go," said track promoter Danny Womack. • OMS Announces A-Features changes: Track owner Gary Clay announced Tuesday August 9th that beginning this Friday night August 12th every class will see a change in the A-Feature lineups. The changes will come in form of a draw to announce the way the Features will line up for that night. All divisions will still draw numbers for their heat race line up but the A-Feature line up will be determined by a draw of a pill each Friday. Three options of how the lineups will be determined are as follows :

    1. No changes to the line up. Drivers line up in the A-Feature as they finish in their heat race.

    2. The top five will positions be inverted, where as fifth will start on the pole and each position will fall into line accordingly. Fourth position will be second, third position third etc....

    3. The top positions transferred directly from the heat races will be inverted. For example - four heat races and the top three out each heat goes directly to the A-Feature, the top 12 will invert. Where as the 12th position will start on the pole and each position will fall into line accordingly. 11th position will be second, 10th position third etc....

  • Outlaw Motor Speedway Recap: Up front was the place to be for the feature winners in dirt track racing at Outlaw Motor Speedway here Friday night.  Three of the four feature victors started in the front row with two in the pole position. Carl Conley, of Porter, came from the inside on row three to capture the checkered flag in the Economy Modified division. He had the lead after the first lap, charging in front down the backstretch. Conley held off Shannon Reheard, Muskogee, for the win. In winning his fourth feature of the year, the defending division points champion had a 1.17 second lead at the end. Jerry Thompson, of Fort Smith, continued his recent dominance in the Modified Division, holding off the field, picking up his second feature win in a week. He won last Friday's main event and followed that with a fifth place finish in the 20-lap Fourth of July race on Saturday night. Thompson survived two yellow flag restarts to hold off Muskogee's Tate Cole. Muskogee's Gary Andrews and Mike Withrow continued their battle for the division points lead, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Andrews went into the evening with a 12-point lead over Withrow (1,478-1,466). Andrews was second in his heat while Withrow was fourth in his. Dale Richardson probably enjoyed one of the widest margins of victory in the Factory Stock A Feature this season. At the finish of the 20-lap chase, the Muskogee driver had a 10-plus second lead over current division points leader Tim Sands, also of Muskogee. Not even a caution flag on lap six failed to slow Richardson. At that time, he had a five-second edge over David Whittle, Muskogee, who retired after the yellow flag was pulled out when David Vinson, Checotah, lost a wheel in turn two. He went to a two-second lead on lap nine and pulled away from the field from there. Richardson took the lead from the outside first row position. Sands had the pole. It was Richardson's second feature victory of the season. Sands had four wins. James Gillean, Muskogee, continued his winning ways in the Pure Stock chase. He had a four- second advantage over Jason Ward, Tahlequah, at the checkered flag. However the results are not official as the top 10 finishers were tore down and inspected late into Saturday morning.  Gillean has won six features this season, tied with division points leader Lynn Combs, Fort Gibson, for the most at the 3/8ths mile oval this season. • Outlaw Speedway Winners Runaway with it: It was "catch-me-if-you-can" time for three of the four feature winners in racing action at Outlaw Motor Speedway here Friday night. Glenpool's Jake Kelley (Economy Modified), Tahlequah's Jeff Hogan (Pure Stock) and Broken Arrow's Brandon Morton (Modified) were start-to-finish winners of their respective features. In the Factory feature, Muskogee's Andy Morris took the lead on lap four and was never headed. Morris had the largest advantage at the checkered flag, almost a half-lap lead over the field. Kelley and Hogan were run-away winners as well while Morton was in front by six cars at the end. Two spectacular crashes punctuated the season's halfway point. Muskogee's Kevin Terrill had a wild ride when his car rolled four times down the front straight on a lap seven restart after a spin-out by Oktaha's Gene Whittle in turn four produced a caution flag in the Pure Stock Feature. Terrill emerged from his demolished race car on his feet.  The accident started just after Terrill crossed the start-finish line. He got into the track ambulance under his own power while his car was loaded onto a wrecker. He was later taken to Muskogee Regional Medical Center by his family, according to track general manager Eric Shannon.  In the second Modified heat, Stilwell's Eddie Martin flipped into the concrete wall between turns three and four. Safety crews helped him from his car - it too was hauled away on a flat-bed wrecker. He was examined by track medical personal.  In the Pure Stock B feature, Danny Russell, Stigler, flipped his car onto the driver's side and slid into the wall in turn three after being involved in a crash with Checotah's Brandon Fields. He was not injured.  Not even a restart with four laps to go could slowdown Kelley as he set a blistering pace to win the Economy feature. By the end he had powered his car to a nearly a quarter of a lap lead over runner-up Kerney Weaver. The Muskogee driver held off another local racer, Heath Weston, at the finish for second.  Hogan won the abbreviated Pure Stock A that was cut from 15 to 13 laps. He out-dueled Lynn Combs, Fort Gibson, to the checkered finish. The two were one-two from the first lap. Terrill was third after two laps and was fourth when his car rolled. Morris parlayed a restart after a caution flag ending lap two into tremendous track position - sixth, after starting dead last in the 18-car field. He took the lead from Sallisaw's Robert Southerland out of turn four on lap four and never trailed from that point. He finished in front of runner-up Kerney Weaver, Muskogee. Tom Snyder, Muskogee, out-dueled Dale Richardson, Muskogee, to finish third. Snyder and Richardson advanced ahead of David Whittle, Muskogee, who had third until all but wrapped until he crashed his car along the front straight on the white flag lap Morton survived a pair of restarts to out-run Stilwell's Brian Parker. Muskogee's Jared Russell was third. (Outlaw Motor Speedway PR)

  • Fan Injury results from Burns at OMS:   Pam Yutterman, the mother of Modified driver Johnny Yutterman, Van Buren, Ark., was in good condition in a Tulsa hospital Saturday evening after being burned in a pit accident at Outlaw Motor Speedway late Friday night. According to speedway officials, she was injured when a pan full of burning fuel was accidentally tossed on her after it ignited while members of her son's pit crew was priming the carburetor on Yutterman's car. She received emergency treatment at the track and was then life-flighted to Hillcrest Burn Center, in Tulsa, OK. "We were trying to restart his car and was priming the carburetor when a pan of gas caught on fire," said Yutterman's husband, R.L. Yutterman. "One of the pit crew tried to get rid of it and didn't see her standing behind us." "The gas splashed on her. She acted by dropping to the ground and rolling. The fire did not go out until I laid on top of her and put it out with some towels." Yutterman said his wife was doing well Saturday evening, up and walking around. (PR)
