King of the Street Competition Caps off Rock & Rumble Weekend
Press Release
ALTUS SPEEDWAY– Rat racing, showin’up, gettin’ it, moonshining, they are all slang for street racing. It’s the illegal head to head, machine verses machine racing that happens on city streets and rural roads all over the world. Hotrods wanting to see who has the fastest machine will have their chance to legally let it all hang out at the Altus Speedway Saturday night after the closed cruise. “We are going to have our annual King of the Street competition after the regular stock car racing program” said track manager Dee Dee Sites “this is the second year for the Altus Speedway to host this race, it’s for street cars not race cars, they have to be street legal”. The competition offers drivers the chance to race on a real racetrack in a head to head elimination style race like drag racing, but drivers will race on the oval track not in a straight line. “Last year we had about twenty cars, trucks and bikes enter the race, Jarred Spears won it in a tuner car,” said Altus Speedways Joe Madore “this year we are going to split it into two classes, cars and trucks, each class winner will get the King of the Street trophy.” Sign in will start at 9:30 P.M. racing will start at 10:00 P.M., grandstands are free after 10:00. The entry fee is ten dollars per car and all street legal vehicles are eligible to race. Super Stocks. ThunderStox, Chargers and Hornets will fill out the regular racing program which starts at 8:00 P.M. Saturday night. Grandstands will open at 6:00 P.M., adult admission is ten dollars, discount coupons are available in the Friday Altus Times or at the Altus Speedway website (www.altusspeedway.com).

This week it will be David Welch's turn to try and make it three wins in a row as the Drive Smart Super Stocks return to the regular racing program.
