Making his
first big
sprint start
since moving
up from
micro-sprints,
Tulsa,
Oklahoma’s,
Cody Cordell
led flag to
flag to win
the fifteen
lap 360
non-wing
sprint feature
at Mid America
Speedway
Saturday
night.
Cordell started inside pole
alongside Matt Sherrell and quickly took command on the
green. After two cautions before two laps were
completed, the race ran green to checker with Cordell
entertaining a straightaway lead at the checker in his
Big Max. Cody stated, “I tried to stay on the bottom in
the moisture, there were a few ruts if you got up
higher.” Chasing Cody to the stripe was Jasiel Randolph
of Tulsa subbing for Rob Forehand.
Matt Sherrell finished in
the show position after an early tangle on the first
restart sent him to the rear along with David Stephenson
who came back to fifth at the checker. Calvert &
Hastings were hooked to the pits done for the night.
Daniel Calvert was fourth. David Seabolt was running
third until he lost power and coasted across the line in
6th. Terry Beckham of Joplin, MO a former Modified
driver making his first ever sprint start was 7th.
Cordell and Sherrell were heat winners. In supporting
classes Matt Collins of S. Coffeyville, OK won the
twenty lap Modified feature, Bartlesville drivers, Matt
Wentz took the Pure Stock A feature while Stevie Wright
won the Factory Stock A.
