Oklahoma Race
Connect
GUTHRIE, Okla.
-- Michelle
Decker is

announce that
she has made
the cut to be
among the top
fifty nominees
for the 2006
version of
Racin’ for a
Livin’. JVI
Productions
LLC will
present round
two of Racin’
for a Livin’
-- a
once-in-a-lifetime
chance to
receive seven
fully-sponsored
rides in a
NASCAR Busch
Series car
during the
2007 season.
JVI
Productions
LLC was
created by
veteran
open-wheel
racer Jerry
VanDenHul. The
series will
kick-off using
direct
Internet
voting to
select the
twelve
participants.
Voters can
view the
potential
rookie
drivers, learn
about their
background and
use Internet
video to learn
why they are
chasing their
dreams of
NASCAR glory.
Decker is a
second-generation
racer who was
born into the
racing
community. Her
dad, Mike, was
rookie of the
year at the
Enid (Okla.)
Speedway the
year she was
born.
“I started
racing
motorcycles
when I was
seven years
old, from
there I went
sand drag
racing and
then spent the
better part of
two years
building my
first mini
stock which I
raced locally
for three
years,” said
Decker. “I
then moved to
Legends Cars
where I got
the
opportunity to
race on dirt
and asphalt,
as well as
road courses.
I was the 1997
Oklahoma
Legends Car
Semi-Pro
Champion.”
“In 2000 I was
given the
chance to
drive a
100-inch
non-winged
modified for
car owner Don
Strawn. I won
the feature in
my third night
in the car and
that's where
my love of
open-wheel
racing began.
Those six
races that I
ran that year
landed me in
the seat of
his sprint car
and I have
been there
ever since. I
now race both
sprint car
classes at
State Fair
Speedway for
Don every
Friday night.”
The Racin’ for
a Livin’ TV
show (on
prime-time
network and
distributed
out
internationally)
will allow the
viewers to see
and experience
the
high-intensity
world of auto
racing through
the eyes and
mind of the
driver.
Twelve rookies
will selected
by a careful
analysis of
the thousands
of talented
drivers and
the voting of
the fans on
their Web
site. The
show’s rookie
drivers will
take you
through the
ups and downs
of their
aspirations,
dreams and
realities. You
will learn how
a driver
becomes a pro,
how the driver
deals with
their crew and
how the driver
schedules
their time and
coordinates
that time to
live and win.
