Outlaw Motor Speedway teams up with NFL's Kenyatta Wright

Outlaw Motor Speedway - PR
ORC - March 2006

MUSKOGEE, Okla. -- Outlaw Motor Speedway would like to announce that we are teaming up with the WRIGHT-1 FOUNDATION for a charity celebrity race and silent auction on May 20th with NFL Linebacker Kenyatta Wright. The celebrity race will feature NFL Players in a charity race at the Outlaw with Kenyatta, (players to be announced). The auction will feature NFL and NASCAR memorabilia to raise money for the foundation.

"We wanted to be able to give back to the community and with Kenyatta's foundation this will give both of us the perfect venue to do it," track owner Gary Clay says."We want to make this an every year affair with the Wright-1 Foundation at the Outlaw and I believe that this can be a great team."

The WRIGHT-1 FOUNDATION night will be the same night as the MLRA Late Model Showdown to capitalize on all popularity of the race.

Kenyatta played football at Vian High School, about 40 miles east of Outlaw Motor Speedway, was a standout Linebacker at Oklahoma State University then moved on to the NFL with the Buffalo Bills and he is currently with the New York Jets. Kenyatta and his wife Amber's greatest mission is sharing how their relationship with CHRIST has taken control of their lives and has moved them to JUST GIVE back into the local community.

Wright-1 Foundation's mission is to provide life-changing spiritual, physical, and economic assistance to disadvantaged youth and their families. The organizers of Wright-1 Foundation will work tirelessly to provide opportunities for these "at risk" young people to enhance their abilities, awareness and special talents. Wright-1 Foundation's vision is for these young people to eventually have the skills necessary to have a positive impact on the quality of life in their community and to put them on the team to build a better future for all of us.

To be more effective in reaching disadvantaged youth and their families, Wright-1 Foundation has recently partnered with Zoë Institute. Zoë's mission is working with single mothers to provide a comprehensive system of services and support that enable single mothers to better their life and stabilize and strengthen their families. Children deserve the opportunity to grow up in single mom households where their mother has the information and support she needs to be a great parent.

Through the Wright-1/Zoe Institute partnership, two different Life Centers will be established; one in Tahlequah and the other in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Through these Life Centers, area families will have access to a comprehensive system of life-skills education, recreational opportunities, health care, and an awesome place to come just to enjoy themselves in a safe and inspirational atmosphere.

In Muskogee and Cherokee Counties, which mirrors what is happening in our society in general, the rate of children being raised in single mom families is skyrocketing. In Muskogee and Cherokee Counties, approximately 58% of children are being raised by single mothers. Over 1.5 million individuals divorce in the U.S. each year with 72% of the custody going to the mother. According to the National Single Parent Family Ministry statistics, 65% of our culture is being raised in a non-nuclear family (primarily single mothers). These single moms and their children must become a priority population in our area's social service provision.

Wright-1 Foundation and Zoë Institute believe that prevention education and mentoring are the primary keys that will begin to reverse the overwhelmed families and problematic youth behaviors so prevalent in our society. Through the planned Life Centers, these "at risk" families will find a place ready to help them find a better life and bright future!
