52nd
consecutive
year of auto
racing action
with the
O’Reilly
American
Sprint Cars on
Tour
headlining the
Spring
Nationals this
Friday and
Saturday.
A stout field
of
approximately
50 of the
nation’s top
Sprint Car
drivers will
battle through
a full card of
heat races,
qualifying
races, “B”
Mains and an
“A” Feature on
Friday night,
with the top
four feature
finishers
locked into
Saturday
night’s Spring
Nationals
finale.
The balance of
the field will
contest
another full
set of heats,
qualifiers and
“B” Mains on
Saturday
night, with
the top two
point earners
in Saturday’s
heats and
qualifiers
joining
Friday’s top
four finishers
in a Dash to
determine the
alignment for
the front
three rows of
the Spring
Nationals
championship
feature event.
Both nights of
racing action
are slated to
go green at
7:30 p.m.
Twenty-three
drivers
representing
ten different
states have
competed in
each of the
series early
2006 events at
Tampa’s East
Bay Raceway
Park, Baton
Rouge Raceway,
Houston
Raceway Park
and Devil’s
Bowl Speedway,
with 2003
series
champion
Travis Rilat
of Forney, TX,
holding a
narrow
six-point lead
over two-time
and defending
series
champion Gary
Wright of
Hooks, TX.
The two Texas
guns are
pursued in the
tight points
race by young
Oklahoma
chargers Nick
Smith of
Broken Arrow
and Darren
Stewart of
Bixby, with
Missouri aces
Tim Montgomery
and Jesse
Hockett in
fifth and
sixth. 2001
ASCS National
champion Zach
Chappell of
Talala, OK, is
currently
ranked
