The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) Foundation today announced that Will Ferrell, star of Columbia Pictures' upcoming NASCAR comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, will serve as the official spokesman for NASCAR Day 2006. Set for Friday, May 19, NASCAR Day celebrates the spirit of NASCAR by encouraging fans to get their NASCAR Day lapel pins, which will be available in exchange for a $5 donation at www.NASCAR.com/foundation along with their favorite NASCAR apparel.

As part of his role as official spokesman, Ferrell will appear in a new ad campaign promoting NASCAR Day for the newly-formed NASCAR Foundation. The commercial will premiere on February 19 during NBC's telecast of the Daytona 500 and will continue to air during NASCAR race telecasts through NASCAR Day on May 19.

"I am honored to be a part of NASCAR Day 2006," said Will Ferrell. "As big as this sport is, its heart is even bigger. I'll be proudly wearing my NASCAR Day pin to work on May 19th."

NASCAR Day is an annual celebration of the spirit of NASCAR fans, both for the sport and for giving back. In 2005, 240,000 fans bought NASCAR Day pins, raising $1.2 million. Additionally, 25 states declared May 20, 2005 "NASCAR Day" in their state. All proceeds from NASCAR Day will benefit The NASCAR Foundation which will help some very worthy causes.

The NASCAR Foundation supports a wide range of charitable initiatives that reflect the core values of the entire NASCAR Family. The Foundation uses the strength of the sport and its people to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.

"Will Ferrell embodies everything NASCAR Day and The NASCAR Foundation stand for: spirit, good will and giving back," said Sandy Marshall, executive director of The NASCAR Foundation. "We are thrilled to stand with Will on May 19th as we give back to our community."
