Race comments: Before an estimated crowd of 280,000, Tony Stewart won the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard, posting his 23rd NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series victory. Prior to the green flag, the following drivers, under penalty, dropped to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #36 Boris Said (unapproved impound adjustment); #41 Casey Mears (unapproved impound adjustment); #2 Rusty Wallace (backup car).
