Combs Doubtful about new band

(Soundbuzz - Apr 20) Rap mogul Sean 'P Diddy' Combs is so unimpressed with the contestants on his reality show 'Making The Band', he's considering making them all losers. Combs is currently auditioning for a girl band in the third season of his hit MTV show, but choreographer Laurie Anne Gibson, who is in charge of artist development on the series, believes the wannabes are far from thrilling this time around. Gibson, who has worked with such stars as Alicia Keys, Usher, Mary J Blige and Missy Elliott, says, "Puffy doesn't see what he calls the eye of the tiger or the magic (in the contestants), and his whole notion of these reality shows is that this is really the place where you find tomorrow's stars. "Puffy's thing is, 'I won't be forced to find this band just because it's a television show... It's reality TV, so if I don't see "It", I don't see it.' "I'm definitely in the trenches with him... and I'm of the same mind set because of what I do as a choreographer and artist development person. I've helped to make artists who have self-destructed, because the truth of what makes you a superstar is something that you can't put into words." (wenn)
