"That's going to really, really catch people off guard," he says. "There's a huge [cry] out there for a younger Britney Spears, a younger Janet Jackson. Those two great artists have paved the way. She has a single out called 'Official Girl' and Danja produced it, and it is a smash."
While time will only tell.. The long awaited album is due out in September.
For the second straight week Bad Boy Records topped the Billboard Charts. Day26 debuted at the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 200, and on SoundScan. In addition, Danity Kane maintained in the top 5 at #4 with 89,000 units sold in the second week.
With total sales exceeding 190,000, "DAY26" -- which features the current hit, "Got Me Going" and the upcoming single, "Since You Been Gone" -- officially logged the biggest-selling debut album from a male R&B group in the 17-year history of SoundScan.
"We just want to offer love and thanks to our many fans for making this band America's #1 group," said Day26, a.k.a. Brian Andrews, Mike McCluney, Qwanell Mosley (a.k.a. "Q"), Robert Curry, and Willie Taylor. "Of course, our endless gratitude goes out to our families and our friends at Bad Boy and Atlantic Records for helping us to achieve success that's already beyond our wildest dreams."
Congrats MTV, Bad Boy Records plus both Danity Kane and Day26.
For the second time Danity Kane's new album debut on top of the charts. "Welcome to the Dollhouse" was atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart. The sophomore DK album sold 236,000 units in their first week.
"Over the past few years, I have not only been on a mission to make the bands, I have been on a mission to build careers. The triumphant number one return of Danity Kane is dramatic proof that we are achieving our goal.
"With Welcome To The Dollhouse, these gifted, beautiful, platinum-selling women have confirmed their enormous talent and undeniable star power."
In a piece on Billboard.com, Cheri Dennis discusses her much delayed debut album, including her past singles.
"Last year, I loved 'I Love You,' but the album itself I wasn't confident in yet," says the 28-year-old Cleveland native about the revamped album. "It was hard to endorse it and support it and push it during that time. But now I can say with confidence, this is a good way to come in. The best meals are slow cooked. I'm just excited now because the timing is so perfect." While collaborations were kept to a minimum, with Gorilla Zoe, Yung Joc and Sean "Diddy" Combs making guest appearances, high-profile producers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins and Mario Winans contributed to the set.
Her album hits store shelves on February 24th.
Here's a look at her 2007 single 'Portrait of Love feat Yung Joc and Gorilla Zoe'
With the wave of highly-anticipated albums that dropped in '06, there's really only one West Coast release that people are already checking for in 2007 and that, of course, is Detox.
...as a release date has reportedly been set for September 25th. According to hnnlive.com, the lead single is set to drop in late spring, with the first video premiering in June.
Hnnlive.com also reported that Detox is said to have a featured guest on every track, and that there's a possibility that Scott Storch will act as a co-producer for the album; if that is indeed the case, I'm pretty sure it won't do much to curb the rumors that Storch frequently acts as a ghost producer for the good doctor. Bishop Lamont and Eminem will be included in the guest roster, and it's rumored that Lloyd Banks, Snoop, Jay Z, Diddy and The Game will also make appearances.
Billboard reports, Sean "Diddy" Combs recently signed with the William Morris Agency for live music representation. WMA represents such names as, 50 cent, D-12, Craig David, Eminem, Fabolous, Outcast among others. With current album near completion, no due date set. WMA representative went on to say, Combs will possibly have a US tour packaged with another artist.. Could Diddy possibly tour with the names above or other WMA talent?
